About Me

Welcome to AntiqueVintageClock.com!

Hi there, and welcome to my little corner of the internet! My name is Ron Joiner, and for the past 20 years, I’ve been an avid hobbyist in the world of antique and vintage clocks. What started as a curiosity has grown into a deep passion for the intricate mechanics, timeless beauty, and rich history of these remarkable mechanisms.

I’m not in the business of selling or repairing clocks—I’m simply someone who loves learning about them, collecting them, and occasionally restoring them as a labor of love. Along the way, I’ve gained a wealth of knowledge and experience that I’m excited to share with fellow enthusiasts like you.

Where I compose articles for this blog

On this site, you’ll find:

  • Tips and tricks for identifying and caring for antique clocks.
  • Showcasing the clocks in my collection, their history, and significance.
  • Offering guidance to those considering buying their first clock or expanding their collection.
  • Articles about the world of horology, my museum exploits, and other personal experiences.
  • Stories and insights about the history and craftsmanship behind these timeless treasures.
  • My personal experiences and lessons learned from collecting and restoring clocks over the years.
  • Capturing and presenting detailed images of clocks and related features.
  • A space to connect with others who share our passion for horology.

Whether you’re a seasoned collector or just starting to explore the world of antique clocks, I hope this site inspires you, teaches you something new, and helps you appreciate these incredible pieces of history as much as I do.

  3. Hiya, I am really glad I have found this information. Today bloggers publish just about gossip and web stuff and this is actually annoying. A good site with interesting content, this is what I need. Thanks for making this site, and I will be visiting again. Do you do newsletters by email?

  7. Your blog posts are very helpful! I recently was asked to write a blog for premierclocks about grandfather clocks and let’s say I had very little knowledge about the clocks and your blog was a lifesaver! Thank you

  8. I just found your site. Seems you have been down the trail of the HAU/HAC clocks. I have just acquired a couple of them and your experience, has help me understand them a bit better.

Myself, I have lost count of all of the clocks and pocket watches I have. I don’t sell my stuff.

Most have wonderful memories of where and how I got them over the years.

Just this quick note to let you know, there are still a number of us, out here. Your not alone with walls full of clocks . Ahah ha.

  9. I do not think that anyone setting out to do any work whatsoever on a clock can take too many photographs. Each and every angle, distant and close up. Your advice is excellent. However – there is always a ‘but’ (or in this case, a ‘however’) – do not forget drawings and sketches. A quick sketch can shew so much that might not be possible to illuminate in a photograph no matter what lens or equipment you use. A sketch can also help you get a better understanding of exactly how a particular wheel, pinion, lever etc. works with its adjacent partners. A larger drawing can help with relationships between component in the overall picture.

    1. Excellent point. Sometimes when I take photos, I think I’ve captured every angle—only to realize later that I missed the one shot I really needed.
